DIY- How to make your own earwire

Hi all,  today I wanted to share how to make your own ear wire. I decided awhile back to start making my own vs soley using already made ones. This is a great way to really make your jewelry 100% handmade. It's very easy to do and you'll save $$$$ doing it too :)

What you'll need:

20-22gauge half hard wire
Round nose pliers
Wire cuter
Nail file to smooth down the sharp edges
Something round to bend the wire over to give it it's shape. I use a big fat marker or a hammer handle

Simple as that. I added some photos for visual aid :) Please let me know if you have any questions :)

Happy Earring making! I'll be posting up some new earrings I made this week and will be adding to the shop.

xoxo

Here's what you'll be making.

What you'll need to get you started.

Cut your wire to the length you want. I usually do 2.5 inches.

I'm using a big marker to bend over the pen to make the shape.

It will turn out like this.

Take your round nose pliers and make a loop at one end. I usually do both at the same time so they are even (at least close to even as possible).

Take the other end and make a little indention so the earring doesn't slip out when you wear them. Tada! You made your earwire !

Slip on on your gemstone or whatever design you have made, onto the earwire and you've completed your 100% hand made earrings!

  1. Thank you for following/commenting on my blog. My hands are full of thumbs, so I will not try to make earrings, but I find those quite nice, love the blue colour.
